Hiker’s Challenge “165”
Take up the challenge! Join the fun! Hike 165 miles in 2015 on Wednesdays and Saturdays, beginning April 25, 2015 with a guided hike near the Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge and finishing on September 23, 2015 in the Chippewa National Forest. The guided hikes are sponsored by the Itasca Moraine and Laurentian Lakes Chapters of the North Country Trail Association.The North Country Trail is the longest hiking trail in the U.S., spanning 4,600 miles from New York State into North Dakota. Volunteer members of local Chapters develop, maintain and promote the trail. The Laurentian Lakes and Itasca Moraine Chapters cover the trail from the Frazee area to the Longville area and offer guided hikes to the public throughout the year. The first two guided hikes of Hiker’s Challenge “165” are:
April 25: Hubble Pond WMA to Boundary Rd. - 5 miles. Meet at Mn. Hwy 34 (9 miles East of Detroit Lakes) and Hubble Pond WMA Trailhead at 1 p.m.
May 2: Boundary Road to Tamarack Lake Access - 5.3 miles. Meet at Pine Lake Trailhead in the Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge at 9 A.M.
