Opening the summer Noon Hour Concerts at Calvary Lutheran Church, on June 4, 12:15 to 12:45 is Jenn Ellis on Piano and Harp. Ellis grew up in Bemidji, MN, and started piano lessons at age 6. She later studied violin, harp and the Appalachian dulcimer. She received a scholarship from the Bemidji Area Church Musicians organization to study at Concordia College in Moorhead, MN where she majored in music with a piano emphasis and social work. Now she  accompanies students and choirs, and plays professionally for events and numerous weddings. She helps to lead worship at her church, and loves to write and sing songs, especially about her walk with Jesus.

Ellis married after her graduation in 2014 and lives in West Fargo, ND, with her husband and their 3 children. She will be playing piano, harp and Appalachian dulcimer, with a variety of selections including hymns, classical music, and contemporary music.

A free will offering will be taken for the  musician. 

The Noon Hour Concert for June 11, 12:15 to 12:45 at Calvary Lutheran Church features local Musician, Debbie Center.  Debbie’s “Classical Rock” sound blends classical piano technique with fearless, on-the-spot improvisation, transforming beloved rock tunes into rich, two-hand symphonies and capturing the spirit of full bands on a single piano. Audiences often marvel at how Debbie distills complex classic rock into its essential elements and delivers it all as a solo pianist.

Debbie also loves collaborating, adding lush harmonies and inventive lines that spark playful exchanges between musicians. She can enter any style as if following a trail only she can hear, then lays down harmonies that shimmer like her beloved northern lights across a dark sky.

Favorite artists and influences include Grateful Dead, The Beatles, Jethro Tull, Led Zeppelin, Queen, The Moody Blues, Stevie Wonder, Elton John, Billy Joel, and many more.

Debbie also composes original piano music inspired by the wildlife, scenery, and northern lights of her beloved home in Nevis, Minnesota.

There is no admission, A free will offering will be taken.

Performing at the Noon Hour Concert on Thursday, June 18 at Calvary Lutheran Church from 12:15 to 12:45  is Jennie Anderson on Flute and Rebekah Sundsrud on piano. Jennie has lived in the community for 20 years. She is involved with Park Rapids Area Community Band, Heartland Concert Association, PEO Chapter FJ, she conducts Hubbard United Methodist Church choir and Classic Chorale, and performs with NLOC. She is a graduate of Augsburg College where she studied flute with Mary Roberts Wilson. She has performed in England and Norway. She is excited to perform again for the noon hour concert series and will play selections from Gabriel Faure and Herman Beeftink.

Sundsrud is a pianist and cellist who lives in Park Rapids and performs with various local and regional ensembles. There will be a free will offering taken for the musicians.

This is a completely casual, open-door opportunity to text, chat, and learn about our mission to mentor children and youth ages 6-16 in the Park Rapids area.

Performing for the Noon Hour Concert on Thursday, June 25 at Calvary Lutheran Church from 12:15 to 12:45 is Violinist, Timothy Pinkerton a 21-year-old violinist currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music degree at the Cleveland Institute of Music. With a strong pull towards orchestral playing, he most recently won a position as first violin in the Canton Symphony Orchestra and serves as a substitute for the New World Symphony.

In the summer of 2025, Timothy served as concertmaster at the National Orchestral Institute + Festival, under Marin Alsop and performed at the Domaine Forget Academy in Quebec. Additionally, in March 2025, he won First Prize in the Schubert Club Student Scholarship Competition undergraduate string division.

Timothy has received added studies and masterclasses with violinists Juliana Athayde, James Ehnes, Karen Gomyo, Kerson Leong, Mihaela Martin, and Violaine Melançon. With a strong collaborative spirit, Timothy greatly enjoys playing chamber music and has collaborated with members of the Cleveland Orchestra.

Timothy’s primary teachers include Eun-song Koh, Malcolm Lowe, and Stephen Rose. Outside of his musical engagements, Timothy enjoys birding, baking desserts, and spending time with family.

Performing for the Noon Hour Concert on Thursday, July 2 at Calvary Lutheran Church 12:15 to 12:45 is the Bemidji Brass Quintet. Group members are Kyle Riess, Trumpet; Alyssa Konecne, Trombone; Steve Radley, Bass Trombone; Eve Sumsky, Horn and Craig Swartz, Trumpet.  

The quintet enjoys performing a diverse selection of music including sacred, musical theater and cinema, contemporary, jazz, and standard brass quintet repertoire.  

The Bemidji Brass Quintet is one of a very few ensemble groups in this area to consistently provide free musical performances for the community.

Park Rapids Rotary Fireworks Celebration

Celebrate Independence Day with one of Northern Minnesota's most spectacular traditions! 

The Park Rapids Rotary Club proudly presents the annual Fourth of July Fireworks Show, lighting up the sky above the beautiful Fishhook River at dusk on July 4th.

Widely regarded as one of the finest fireworks displays in Northern Minnesota, this community celebration is made possible entirely through the generosity of local businesses, organizations, and individual donors. The event receives no government funding—every firework launched is funded by community support.

Gather with family and friends at Heartland Park or Red Bridge Park for the best viewing experience, and enjoy the breathtaking reflections over the Fishhook River. The show can be seen from many locations throughout Park Rapids, making it a favorite tradition for residents and visitors alike.

Weather Contingency: In the event of unfavorable weather conditions, the fireworks display will be postponed to July 5.

Performing for the Noon Hour Concert on Thursday, August 13, 12:15 to 12:45 at Calvary Lutheran Church is Tenor Soloist, Wyatt Parthun. Parthun grew up in Lake George, MN and has participated in music since he was seven-years-old. He started studying music seriously at fourteen by taking piano and voice lessons. Since that time, he has been active in High School Choir and Theater and graduated from Bemidji State University in May of 2026  with a degree in Piano and Voice. 

Performing for the Noon Hour Concert on Thursday, August 20 at Calvary Lutheran Church from 12:15 to 12:45 P.M.  is Sarah Hamrin on Viola. She  grew up in the Bemidji area and started musical study at the age of four. She earned a BM from Baylor University in 2020, where she studied with faculty on violin, viola, and piano. Sarah has performed in a variety of ensembles and currently plays with the Bemidji Symphony and Bismarck-Mandan Symphony Orchestras. She is also a pianist at Hubbard Methodist Church. A free will offering will be accepted.

The Noon Hour Concert for Thursday, August 27, at Calvary Lutheran Church, 12:15 to 12:45 features pianist Matthew Lorenz, a Chicago-based musician who is gaining prominence in the American midwest. Lorenz began his piano studies at age nine in Fargo, North Dakota and went on to earn a Master’s degree at the Chicago College of Performing Arts. He is known for his "powerful" playing style, which balances a broad musical perspective with heartfelt sensitivity and attention to detail.  His repertoire spans composers ranging from Bach and Chopin to Rachmaninoff and Liszt. He will play a program of Chopin this summer which includes 2 Ballades, 2 Nocturnes and a Grande Valse Brillant.  

The concerts are free of charge. A free will offering will be accepted.

On the fourth Thursday of every month, Kinship of Park Rapids Area invites community members, neighbors, and friends to join our Executive Director, Brandon Mustful, at Bella Caffe'.

This is a completely casual, open-door opportunity to text, chat, and learn about our mission to mentor children and youth ages 6-16 in the Park Rapids area.

• ?? Enroll a child: Find out how to get your child or a youth you know signed up as a mentee.

• ?? Ask anything: Whether you have questions about volunteering, donating, or just want to say hi, Brandon is here to answer them!

• ?? Hear real stories: On occasion, some of our wonderful current mentors will drop by to share their first-hand experiences with you.
