DESCRIPTION:Registration time for the event has past\, if you are interested in attending\, please contact Kristen Partlow 218 507-1869\n\n\n\nHealing Begins at the Headwaters\n\nJoin the ACEsMN Committee to learn about Adverse Childhood Experiences. The afternoon will be filled with presentations from national\, regional\, and local experts! The summit is organized in a plenary style for everyone's convenience to hear each of the speakers with a panel discussion to end the evening. Evening meal included. \n\n\n\nCLICK HERE TO REGISTER\n\nPlease note: Registration closes Sunday\, February 10 at midnight.\n\nACEs MN is a local\, grassroots initiative made up of members of the Park Rapids community\, who came together through collaboration with ACTION Park Rapids. Initially\, the group chose to focus on serving Youth in our community and then more specifically on serving youth that are experiencing Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) with the goal of becoming a trauma informed community and to grow resilience for generations to come.\n\n\n\n The group includes many different community agencies including A Better Connection\; the Alternative Learning Center\; CHI St. Joseph's Health - The FATHER Project\, Hubbard in Prevent (HIP) and Violence Prevention\; Calvary Lutheran Church\; Hubbard County Economic Development\; Kinship of the Park Rapids Area\; Park Rapids Area Schools\; Park Rapids Auto\; Stellher Human Services\; and several local area businesses.\n\n\n\nSpeakers:\n\nJim Sporleder\, under Sporleder's leadership\, Lincoln High School in Walla Walla\, Wash became a trauma-informed school\, gaining national attention and spearheading a nationwide movement due to a dramatic drop in school suspensions\, increased graduation rates and the number of students going on to post-secondary education. These dramatic changes were captured in the "Paper Tigers" and its sequel "Resilience." Both documentaries are by filmmaker James Redford.\n\n\n\nSixth District Judge Shaun Floerke (St. Louis County) will speak about ACEs and their impact within the judicial system.\n\n\n\nDr. Heather Bell from CHI St. Gabriel's in Little Falls will speak about ACEs and their impact within the medical field. \n\n\n\nTwo guest speakers from Menomonie\, Wis. will share their community's efforts to become trauma-informed. Wendell Waukau is superintendent of the Menominee Indian School District.
