SUMMARY:Lawns & Lakes - There is a Connection - Workshop #2
DESCRIPTION:This is the 2nd of two virtual workshops\, taught by Karen Terry\, retired Water Resource Management\, University of Minnesota Extension to be offered this September. You may attend one and/or both of the workshops.\n\n\n\nThe second workshop of two is Tuesday evening\, Sept 29 at 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM tailored toward individuals willing to volunteer their time as "Shoreland Advisors" to help others explore ways they can help us all achieve healthy water quality in our lakes. A "Shoreland Advisor" may visit with an individual landowner\, for example\, on techniques for keeping rain water on their own lawn longer\, filtering the runoff before it enters the lake. Or perhaps turning a downspout. Or planting deep-rooted vegetation to prevent erosion.\n\n\n\nThe first workshop will be on Tuesday evening\, September 22 at 6:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. and will include an overview of the connection between land use and water quality. Our lawn is our own mini watershed. Through the method of ?systems thinking? individuals will learn techniques for changing their own lawns to help improve water quality. \n\n\n\nBoth workshops will include time for Q & A. These sessions will be recorded and made available for future use. Resource materials will be available either electronically or as hard copy.\n\n\n\nRegister by email to hccolamn@gmail.com\n\n\n\nVirtual class via Zoom\; details on how to join will be sent after you register.\n\n\n\nSponsored by Hubbard County University of Minnesota Extension and Hubbard County Coalition of Lake Associations (HC COLA)\, these programs are free and open to the public.\n\n\n\nSee Event Flyer
