SUMMARY:LWV - Being a citizen is more than just voting!
DESCRIPTION:How to communicate your thoughts to state and local elected officials. \n\n \n\nOn September 8th at 6:00 pm at Northwoods Bank Community Room in Park Rapids\, League of Women Voters Park Rapids Area will present a panel with Hubbard County Commissioner Matt Dotta and Nancy Larson\, a retired lobbyist for Coalition of Greater Minnesota Cities. The panel will be talking about how you as a citizen can communicate your thoughts on issues to your representatives. They will each give a statement and then have time for questions. This is an educational event\, therefore\, we will not take questions on specific issues. Those types of questions are for candidates forums.\n\nWe are a representative government\, so our representatives do need to know what citizens think. They can get information from: polls\, town hall meetings\, written letters\, emails\, phone calls\, signed petitions\, or lobbying organization such as unions\, churches\, city coalitions etc. It's part of our jobs as citizens to communicate with them. But what is the best method to be heard? So come to the LWV Park Rapids program on September 8th to hone your skills as a citizen.\n\nFor more information please contact Carolynne White\, President LWVPRA at 218-732-9819 or email lwvparkrapids@lvwmn.org. The League invites all citizens 18 and older to join us in our efforts to improve our community.
