DESCRIPTION:The Park Rapids Community Concert Band will perform their Winter Holiday Concert\n\nThe 50-member Park Rapids Area Community Band (PRACB) will present "American Sketches" for the fall concert at 3 p.m. Sunday\, November 17 at the Area High School auditorium. Under the baton of Adam Tervola Hultberg\, the band will play selections by Edwin Bagley\, Carolyn Bremer\, John Williams\, Irving Berlin and Charles Ives. A special highlight will be clarinet soloist Dr. Leigh Wakefield\, Professor of Music at Concordia College in Moorhead. Dr. Wakefield teaches applied private clarinet lessons and courses in woodwind pedagogy. Together\, the PRACB and Dr. Wakefield will present "Concertino for Clarinet and Band" by Dr. Frank Bencriscutto. For an added nugget of fun\, Dr. Wakefield will collaborate with the clarinet section on "The Clarinet Polka." Each selection on this program is intended to evoke a variety of American images:  The American flag\, Appalachia\, Cajun culture\, cowboys and more. A free will offering will be accepted.
