Arts Downtown PR (3rd Thursdays)

Description

The Arts Downtown PR series resumes from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20 at four locations in downtown Park Rapids. 

The reggae band, Make the Most, will entertain from 5 to 5:30 and 6 to 6:30 p.m. in the back of Bella Caffè. Make the Most features Josh Prendiz, lead vocals and guitar, Brandon Prendiz on the drums and Roger Fenzel, playing bass and doing back up vocals. The band has been together for the past three years and will play again from 5 to 6:15 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22 as part of the Art Leap Music Experience at Terrapin Station in Nevis.

The Jack Pine Writers Bloc is holding a book release party for Talking Stick 21 on Sept. 15 and will do a post-release party for Arts Downtown PR at Beagle Books. Sharon Harris, her niece, Tarah L. Wolff, and possibly one other member of the Jack Pine Writers Bloc will present the latest edition of Talking Stick from 5:30 to 6 and 6:30 to 7 p.m.

Chasing Clarence, an international folk jazz trio, will play from 5:30 to 6 and 6:30 to 7 p.m. at Necce’s Riestorante. This group finds its soul deeply rooted in the forests of Minnesota and Malaysia. Prone to wander into territories uncharted, they offer toe-tapping tunes with authentic backwoods lyrical depth. Musicians in Chasing Clarence are Eric Bervig, Ezra Overly and Phoebe Mathius.

Craig Braunschweig will appear from 5 to 5:30 and 6 to 6:30 at The Good Life Cafe. Braunschweig is from Menahga, graduated from Park Rapids High School and has been playing acoustic guitar and singing for 12 years. He will play a variety of genres from jazz to rock to his own compositions and may bring a friend to play along.

The Park Rapids Lakes Area Arts Council sponsors this activity which is funded in whole or in part by a Region 2 Arts Council Grant through an appropriation by the Minnesota State Legislature Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund passed by Minnesota voters on Nov. 4, 2008.
