Arts Downtown PR (3rd Thursdays)

The Arts Downtown PR series continues from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17 at four locations in downtown Park Rapids. Chef and cookbook author Amy Thielen will talk about her newly released book, "The New Midwestern Table: 200 Heartland Recipes" from 5 to 5:30 and 6 to 6:30 at Beagle Books. Next door, Will Halvorson will play Bella Caffè's great piano from 6 to 6:30 p.m. Ben Marotte will entertain with folk, classic rock and classic country at The Good Life Cafe from 5:30 to 6 and 6:30 to 7. In addition, Mary Schwartz?s photographs, "Reflections on Fifty",will be on display at The Good Life. Enjoy Northern Bass at Necce's from 5:30 to 6 and 6:30 to 7. Louise and Dan Bass will play favorites from the 50s and 60s. There is no admission charge to Arts Downtown PR events. Plan to spend the evening Downtown and stay to hear Kind Country at Armory Square, starting at 7:30 p.m. at Armory Square, located at the corner of US Hwy. 71 and 2nd Street in Downtown Park Rapids. Kind Country is a six-piece string band playing American standards as well as their own brand of cosmic American music. Since their formation in 2012, the band has focused on live performances with high levels of improvisation and energy gathering with a goal of creating a moment of musical bliss that can be shared by audience members and band alike. Names will be drawn from those attending Arts Downtown PR Oct. 17 for two free tickets to the 3rd Thursday Armory concert by Silverback Colony Nov. 21. Arts Downtown PR is funded in whole or in part by a Region 2 Arts Council Grant through an appropriation by the Minnesota State Legislature Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund passed by Minnesota voters on Nov. 4, 2008.
