Heid E. Erdrich will lead discussion on the book, A Good Time for the Truth: Race in Minnesota, at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, May 13 at the Nemeth Art Center. This is a follow up program as part of Park Rapids Area Reads Together. Erdrich is a contributor to the book. She has won awards and honors from the Loft Literary Center, Bush Foundation, Minnesota State Arts Board, The First Peoples Fund and others. She teaches writing and is a frequent speaker on Native American literature, visual art and Indigenous foods.
Read Together events are sponsored by the Kitchigami Regional Library System, Park Rapids Area Friends of the Library, Park Rapids Area Library/Barb Ranson Memorial Fund, Nemeth Art Center, Park Rapids League of Women Voters and made possible by funds through the Legacy Amendment. The event also will give visitors an opportunity to see the Nemeth’s 40th anniversary exhibit on the history, art, culture and land along the Mississippi River.
