"The 31st Annual High School Fine Arts Exhibit" It is showing May 3rd through May 28th. There is a reception/awards ceremony May 14th, 2 - 4pm. Some of the students are also entered in the Congressional Art Competition. The winner's piece will hang in the Cannon Tunnel in Washington D.C.
Once again, the Helen P. Lockridge Awards will be given out to the students by Eleanor Lockridge Olson. Here is a quote from her, fyi.
"Helen always felt that a good artist must have not only natural talent, but the drive and determination for continued work and education. She understood both the obstacles and the challenges involved for young artists. Through these awards, she hoped to encourage young people to use their talents to make the world a lovelier place to live. It is my pleasure to continue this effort, which brought her great joy." - Eleanor Lockridge Olson
The other exhibit we will have going simultaneously is "Marking the Land." It is a traveling exhibit. It will be showing May 3rd through May 28th. It will open May 3rd at 5pm with a reception (5 - 6:30pm) and special presentation by North Dakota Museum of Art's Matthew Wallace.
The work is by Boston based photographer Jim Dow. It is a wonderful collection of works that include vernacular architecture, people's places of business, classrooms, workshops, homes and their surroundings, hunting lodges, as well as churches, cemeteries, and prison yards.
Open Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday 10:30 - 4:30
