This series of 19 graphite pencil drawings was done by Gary M. Peterson, an 'artist in residence' at Park Rapids public schools in 1980.
The artist worked with all of the Anishinaabeg children in the Frank White Elementary School, first through fourth grades.
The background imagery was chosen by each individual student. The artist integrated these important symbols into each portrait.
Mr. Peterson lived on Lake Belle Taine at the time. He is a Viet Nam Veteran. He is a graduate of the University of North Dakota - Grand Forks.
Reception to be determined. Please call or email for more information.
