Friday Evening: Enjoy appetizers and wine while Judd Brink, professional bird guide and owner of MN Backyard Birds, gives a presentation on the natural history and birds of Itasca State Park. During this time, Judd will also hand out maps, a bird checklist, discuss proper binocular use and answer any questions you may have.
Saturday morning: Enjoy the spring migration with a guided bird watching tour with Judd at Itasca State Park from 6:00 am to 12:00 noon, taking in other birding locations as time allows. Many of our neotropical warblers nest within the park, so it's a great opportunity to view many warbler species such as Chestnut-sided, Blackburnian and Redstarts. A brief look at a Goshawk is also possible along with nesting loons and eagles. Many of the birds will be reviewed during the Friday evening program.
Saturday afternoon through the rest of your stay:
Take that wanted afternoon nap on our comfortable beds, and just generally enjoy the peaceful and relaxing comforts of Two Inlets Resort
Return to Itasca State Park for more bird watching on your own
Use the canoes, kayaks or paddleboat here at the resort to quietly view nesting Common Loons, Green Herons and Great-blue Herons on Two Inlets Lake. If the loon families have hatched by this time in May, you will get to view the young chicks riding on their mother's backs and being fed.
Watch Bald Eagles as well as migratory birds while sitting on the lakeshore or docks
Take a drive over to the Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge to view a wide range of waterfowl
Feel free to put down your binoculars for just some relaxing peace and quiet
