You are Invited! Steve Maanum will present a program called “Loons, Loons, Loons” at the Hubbard County Coalition of Lake Associations (HC COLA) Board Meeting on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at the Northwoods Bank Community Room, 1200 1st St. E. in Park Rapids. Refreshments and Conversation at 6:00 p.m. The meeting will start at 6:30 p.m. The public is welcome to attend.
Steve’s presentation will focus on three related topics pertaining to our state bird:
Topic #1 – one lake’s very extensive loon nesting project and how technology is being used to document loon behavior
Topic #2 – the current USGS loon research project that uses satellite transmitters to track loon migration
Topic #3 – tips and techniques for photographing loons in safe and ethical ways
Steve Maanum is an award-winning educator who uses his backgrounds in science and language arts as a foundation for his nature writing and photography.
