Experience the magic of winter at Itasca State Park's annual Lantern Light Event! Starting at the historic Forest Inn, follow the candlelight glow of lanterns through towering old-growth pines, stop for a mid-trail campfire along the moonlit shore of Mary Lake, and return to enjoy live music by Lori Goulet Reich. The trail is illuminated with lanterns and groomed for walking, snowshoeing, or cross-country skiing. Routes include a 3/4 mile and 1 mile loop beginning and ending at the Forest Inn. Warm boots with good traction recommended for walking. Ski and snowshoe rentals are available from Itasca Sports inside the Forest Inn, as well as hot / cold beverages and snacks for sale.
Book your winter getaway! The Headwaters Inn, Four-Season Suites, Bert's Cabins and electric drive-in sites in Pine Ridge Campground are open year-round. Reserve now.
The Forest Inn is open as a warming house through the winter season. Bring your lunch, play games, or kick your feet up by the wood-burning fireplace.
Itasca Sports rents snowshoes and cross-country skis on weekends during ski season. Located inside the Forest Inn.
The Mary Gibbs Cafe is open Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. through the winter season. The soup is on and coffee's hot, so sip and stay awhile!
The Jacob V. Brower Visitor Center is open and staffed every day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Browse the nature store, explore exhibits, or watch winter birds through large observation windows.
