Explore Bow Hunting, Mini-Workshop
Tuesday, August 13, 2019 from 10 a.m.- 3 p.m.
Meet in the back lot of the Indian Mounds/North Picnic Grounds Parking Area, pre-registration required
Throw an atl atl! Shoot a bow! Climb a tree stand! Track a deer trail! Are you interested in learning the basic skills of bow hunting or just exploring the woods? Go beyond Archery in the Park program, as we explore the long history of hunting from atl atl’s to bows. Walk through basic use of a bow at the archery instruction station, learn to safely use and climb tree stands, and hike a forest trail as we hone our animal tracking skills. Get tips and much more. Bows are provided during the program. Personal archery equipment is not allowed due to weapons rules in Minnesota State Parks.
NOTES: Participants will be outside for the program. Be prepared for standing in the sun. Bring along sunscreen, sunglasses, hat, insect repellant and water.
A simple lunch will be provided by the Minnesota Deer Hunters Association- Park Rapids Chapter.
Minimum age for participation is 10 years of age. 10-15 year old participants must be accompanied by an adult. All equipment will be provided. The program is free, however a Minnesota State Parks vehicle permit is required for entrance into the park. Limited to 20 participants. A minimum of 5 partipants needed for program to be held.
