Under Leah’s leadership, Mahube-Otwa operates a “need to be present in our communities” business model, with a corporate office located in Detroit Lakes and 4 additional offices located in Fergus Falls, Park Rapids, Mahnomen and Wadena. Mahube-Otwa has a staff of 155 and an 18-member Board of Directors consisting of County Commissioners, Private Organization groups, and representatives of our low-income populations.
By working in partnership with community partners, businesses, and community volunteers, Mahube-Otwa is stronger and more successful in its mission to “Empower People to Achieve Self-Sufficiency.”
Over the past year, Mahube-Otwa provided services to more than 16,000 people in nine major program areas: Block Grants, Child Care, Emergency Services, Family Development, Energy Programs, Family Health, Housing, Senior Programs and Head Start. The annual operating budget is approximately $18 million.
Leah Pigatti was recently awarded the “Connie Greer Lifetime Action Award” for a lifetime of distinguished achievement characterized both by the integrity of her service and her respect for the dignity and potential of all Minnesotans.
