Celebrate National Public Lands Day on Sept. 23rd with a hike on the North Country Trail at Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge. All are invited to join chapter members of the Laurentian Lakes Chapter for an afternoon of hiking and enjoying the fall colors. Meet at Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge Visitor's parking lot at 12:30 and choose to hike a three or five mile section of the trail with leaders, or choose to hike on your own. Afterwards, we'll gather for ice cream at the Discovery Center.

The North Country National and Scenic Trail is the longest continuous hiking trail in the United States stretching 4800 miles across eight states. Minnesota hosts over 870 miles and Becker County has over 50 miles that are maintained by volunteers of the local chapter. Stretching from Frazee, the trail winds northward through Hubbel Pond Wildlife Management area and Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge.
