Native American Flute

Description

The Kitchigami Regional Library System Legacy Program is hosting Jon Romer of Cass Lake area during the month of April.  He will present on the history and creation of native flutes and perform Native American music on a variety of the instruments he has made based on the teachings of the elders versed in the Native American Flute.

Jon Romer has taught music in tribal settings, elementary through college for 22 years.  He will weave into his performance the history and tradition of the Native American Flute, its design and, most importantly, the beautiful traditional songs embraced within the Native American culture.  Some of the songs will include a Gathering Song, a Love Song, a Farewell Song and a Cherokee Lullaby.
