Judea, just after the birth of Christ.

Amahl, a poor boy who can walk only with a crutch, lives with his mother and tells tall tales.  So of course she doesn't believe him when he tells her of a beautiful star in the east; when he tells of 3 Kings traveling through their small village, she loses all patience.  But when these royal visitors choose her tiny hut as their resting place on their journey, the mother is tempted by all of their gold.

Written by Gian Carlo Menotti, Amahl & the Night Visitors has captivated audiences for over 60 years.  With its soaring lyricism and touching human story, Amahl is a perennial holiday favorite, and NLOC is happy to bring it to a Park Rapids stage for the third time in 2014.
