Formal and non-formal educators are invited to attend a workshop to learn about the Mississippi River’s natural and cultural resources on Saturday, March 29 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The workshop will take place in the Jacob V. Brower Visitor Center located in Itasca State Park. The workshop is being conducted by naturalist staff from Itasca State Park and the Chippewa National Forest using curriculum from Our Mississippi Education Network. The naturalists noted the workshop will be “fun, hands-on, action packed and informational.”
The Our Mississippi educator workshop is for people interested in the natural and cultural resources associated with the Mississippi River. All the activities are geared for students in grades three through eight and are tied back to both national and state education standards for the five upper Mississippi River states.
The workshop is being held free of charge, but participants should come prepared with a sack lunch and ready to experience the river outdoors as a portion of the class will be held at the Headwaters of the Mississippi River. Pre-registration is required, as the workshop is limited to 30 participants.
