There seems to be a lot of disagreeing in the world right now, but I think that one thing we can all agree on is that we have come through a year full of challenges and we are all so fortunate to be a part of the communities and congregations that we share.
Family Safety Network (FSN) a 501c3 non-profit that provides advocacy and support services to victims of domestic violence and their families, feels so fortunate to be a part of your community and most importantly a part of the solution. As we anticipate the year ahead and begin planning our fundraising efforts, we wanted to create an event that also helps the area’s small businesses too. With that in mind we chose to do a gift card drive and we are naming it “Share the Love February”.
Why a gift card drive, well because it addresses many needs in our communities, with our clients and keeps our dollars local and supports our small businesses. An event that benefits more than one cause.
Our first contact with clients is often at the time of crisis. Many are fleeing dangerous situations and leave with only the clothes on their backs. They often have children to care for and mouths to feed. The services we provide often include making sure they can eat, putting gas into their cars, providing warm clothing and many times providing them with short term SAFE lodging. What better way could we address these issues of need than to do it in a way that benefits our small businesses as well. We use gifts cards to area restaurants, grocery stores, gas stations and household or clothing supply stores. In all honesty we have never received a donation we could not put to good use.
