About Kinship of the Park Rapids Area At Kinship, our mission is to cultivate meaningful relationships with youth that have a lifelong, positive impact. Through our Community-Based Mentoring and Reading Buddies programs, we empower local youth by connecting them with caring adult mentors.

Role Overview As a member of the Board of Directors, you will serve as a vital trusted steward of our mission. Board members provide strategic leadership, financial oversight, and community advocacy to ensure the long-term success, growth, and integrity of Kinship's mentoring programs.

Key Responsibilities

• Governance & Leadership: Participate in setting long-term organizational goals, support and evaluate the Executive Director, and review key policies to maintain high ethical standards.

• Financial Stewardship: Review monthly financial reports, assist in approving the annual budget, and participate in fundraising efforts (including year-end appeals and making a personally meaningful annual contribution).

• Community Advocacy: Act as a public ambassador for Kinship, helping raise visibility and referring potential volunteer mentor applicants or future board candidates.

• Committee Involvement: Serve on at least one board committee leveraging your skills (e.g., Program, Finance/Fundraising, Group Activities, or Marketing/PR).

Time Commitment & Schedule

• Term Length: 3-year term.

• Full Board Meetings: Held on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 4:00 PM.

• Committees & Events: Committee meetings as needed, plus attendance at at least one major Kinship group activity or volunteer appreciation event annually.
