Description
Horseshoes & Hand Grenades will light up 2nd Street Stage Thursday, July 31. Hailing from the river town of Stevens Point, WI, Horseshoes and Hand Grenades plays something like progressive, high-energy, old-time folk music. With strong roots in old-time and bluegrass, the band has formed its own unique style born from the diverse musical backgrounds and interests of the five friends who make up the group. All born and raised in Wisconsin, HHG began playing music in the spring of 2009. Since then, the band has shared the stage with the Infamous Stringdusters, Yonder Mountain String Band, Charlie Parr, The Big Wu and many more. Being mostly inspired by rivers, valleys, good friends and good drink, this 5-piece is as sturdy as any Midwest riverbed and will make your toes tap from sundown to sunrise. Band members are Adam Greuel (guitar, dobro, vocals), Collin Mettelka (fiddle, mandolin, vocals), Davey Lynch (harmonica, accordion, vocals), Samuel Odin (bass, vocals) and Russell Pedersen (banjo, fiddle, vocals). Sponsored by the Park Rapids Downtown Business Association and Lamb Weston/RDO Frozen, 2nd Street Stage continues from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursdays through Aug. 21 with free live bands, a beer garden and family activities. Please bring your own chair.
