Facilities Supervisor
The Park Rapids School District is looking for a Facilities Supervisor for the 2024-2025 school year. The ideal candidate would be able to begin the position on or around February 3rd, 2025.
Education: Bachelor's preferred
Experience: Business Administration, Facilities Management, HVAC, construction, engineering, or related field with a minimum of 3-5 years.
License: Must hold a current valid Chief's Boilers Operator's license with the State of Minnesota Department of Labor & Industry, Certified Pool Operators Certificate; Indoor Air Quality Certificate
Supervision resonsibilities: Custodial staff and Grounds
Under the direction of the Superintendent, the Building and Grounds Supervisor is responsible for the overall management, operations and programs of the Buildings and Grounds to ensure efficient operations and to provide for the safety, health and comfort of student, staff and the public within the facilities.
Responsibilities include, but not all exhausting;
- Manages, supervises and directs the personnel of facilities and grounds.
- Screens, interviews, recommends for hire, disciplines and discharges departmental and seasonal staff.
- Monitors the accomplishment of departmental programs, projects and goals.
- Examines and/or reorganizes departmental responsibilities, operational procedures, protocols, methods and policies to better accomplish departmental/district goals and objectives.
- Monitors and assures indoor and outdoor facilities are safe and clean.
- Oversees District efforts to increase building efficiencies, indoor air quality, and security issues.
- Leads the planning and coordination of the facility improvements, repairs, energy conservation, maintenance, ground maintenance and improvements.
- Formulates and establishes procedures and preventive maintenance schedules/programs.
- Assists in determining building maintenance, ground care and purchasing priorities.
- Inspects and reviews the progress of various construction projects. Meets with contractors, vendors, project managers to assess project progress, issues and concerns.
- Monitors department operations and procedures of the department to ensure compliance with various local, state or federal regulations.
- Assist in the development and administration of facility, capital, and health and safety budgets.
- Monitors established budget to assure department operates within approved limits.
- Oversees purchases of supplies, equipment, and materials for the department.
Essential knowledge:
- Knowledge of the operation of building management systems (i.e. Security systems, HVAC systems, refrigeration, mechanical and electrical).
- Fundamentals of supervision and management.
- Fundamentals, concepts and processes of planning and contracting of capital improvement projects.
- District administrative policies and procedures.
- Fundamentals of grounds and field maintenance.
- Knowledge of custodial procedures, requirements and operational requirements.
Skilled in:
- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, department heads, and district administrators.
- Delegating, supervising, training, evaluating and planning work assignments and priorities for department staff.
- Coordinating and monitoring improvement projects.
- Planning, recommending and monitoring approved department budget.
- Planning, overseeing and developing preventive maintenance plans, schedules and procedures.
- Monitoring facility maintenance, grounds and repair work of a structural, mechanical or physical nature.
- Planning, prioritizing, and organizing tasks and functions.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervisor.
Benefits include; $10,000 towards health insurance premiums, $2600 contributed by the District to a Health Reimbursement accont, paid leave includes, sick, personal and vacation.
