Presenter Under the Pines: John Latimer, Phenologist Every Tuesday morning devoted fans tune into a northern Minnesota station on their radios or via their computers to listen to Grand Rapids mail carrier John Latimer describe his observations of nature over the previous week, relating how those observations of plant and animal life are influenced by the seasons. John, whose father was a forester, has been observing nature closely for many years. He serves now as staff phenologist at KAXE/KBXE Northern Community Radio with studios in Grand Rapids and Bemidji. In addition to his weekly radio program, John also writes a phenology column for the University of Minnesota Extension online publication, "My Minnesota Woods", and for a Duluth publication, "The Senior Reporter".

Lantern Lit Night Hike Minnesota's state symbols is the theme of this year's lantern lit hike. Guides with lanterns will lead you down the lantern-lit trail to meet characters during this family-friendly evening hike. Group hikes will last about 30 minutes, with registration for hikes beginning at 6:00 pm. The first hike leaves at 6:30 pm and the last hike begins at 8:10 pm. Suitable for all ages! Children must be accompanied by an adult. Other activities, including music and a variety of children's activities, will be ongoing.

Itasca’s Music Under the Pines: Lori Goulet Reich Join Lori, a Lake Itasca Transplant from the suburbs of Minneapolis, as she performs a variety of Acoustic Folk and Alt-Country-Flavored music.
