CHI St. Joseph’s Health Donates $5,000 to Support Food Banks |
Park Rapids, MN — During recent unsettling times marked by federal government
uncertainties and the temporary disruption of SNAP benefits, many families across our
region faced increased food insecurity. In response to this urgent need, CHI St. Joseph's
Health committed $5,000 to bolster hunger relief efforts in our local communities.
While federal SNAP benefits are now back on schedule, this commitment underscored the
critical role local support plays during times of crisis and ongoing need. The funds were
distributed throughout all our communities, each of which experienced increased demand
during this challenging time, including:
● Hubbard County Food Shelf
● Menahga Area Food Shelf
● Akeley/Nevis Community Food Shelf
● Walker Area Food Shelf
Guided by its mission to make the healing presence of God known by improving the health
of the people it serves, especially the most vulnerable, CHI St. Joseph's Health's
contribution aimed to mitigate the effects of food assistance delays. This donation was
coordinated as part of the organization’s broader efforts to address the social determinants
of health, including food insecurity, housing, and access to care.
