Cooks Helper

The Park Rapids High School Food Service department is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our culinary team as a Cook's Helper. This position involves assisting in the preparation and serving of meals to students and staff, ensuring a safe and clean kitchen environment, and contributing to a positive dining experience. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food and nutrition, along with a commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive atmosphere.

COOKS HELPER, position hours; 5 hours/day, 5 days/week
Position starts August 31st, 2026.
 

Responsibilities
- Assist the head cook in the preparation and cooking of meals, including chopping, mixing, and measuring ingredients.
- Help with the setup and serving of food during meal times.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and disposing of waste.
- Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines to ensure the health and safety of all students and staff.
- Assist in inventory management, including receiving and storing food supplies.
- Participate in menu planning and suggest improvements based on student preferences.
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient meal service and timely preparation.
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the head cook or Food Service Supervisor.

Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in a kitchen or food service environment is a plus but not required.
- Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills and a positive attitude.
- Physical ability to lift heavy items(up to 40 pounds), stand for long periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including mornings and early afternoons, as needed.
- Passion for working with children and contributing to their well-being through nutritious meals

- Must pass a background check as required by school district policies.
