Recess Monitor

Century School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team at Century School as a Recess Monitor. This part-time position is essential in ensuring a safe, enjoyable, and engaging outdoor play experience for our students during recess. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children and a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive environment.

Work schedule is Monday through Friday, approximately 11:15 am - 1:15 pm. The position is working outsite on the playground, and the ideal candidate should enjoy the outdoors and have the ability to dress appropriately for the weather conditions.

Responsibilities
- Supervise students during outdoor recess, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Encourage positive social interactions and conflict resolution among students.
- Monitor and facilitate games and activities to promote physical activity and teamwork.
- Enforce school rules and guidelines to maintain a safe and respectful environment.
- Assist students as needed, providing support for those who may require additional help.
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents regarding any concerns or incidents.
- Maintain a clean and organized outdoor play area, ensuring equipment is safe and in good condition.
- Participate in training and staff meetings as required to stay informed on school policies and procedures.

Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; experience working with children preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with students and staff.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate activities.
- First Aid and CPR certification is preferred, or the willingness to obtain certification.
- Availability to work during school hours, specifically during recess times.
- A positive attitude, patience, and a genuine interest in the well-being of children.
